The company was founded in 1958 by Philip Brooke Barnes as The Association for Cultural Exchange and is currently based in Babraham, Cambridge, England.
There they were received at the door by Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden himself, then in his 80s, who showed the visitors around personally.

Courses were also arranged for the University of Pittsburgh, as well as in Denmark and in Wales, examining the search for identity in modern democracies, and work in a free society, both well ahead of their time.
