Tidal resonance occurs in the Bay of Fundy since the time it takes for a large wave to travel from the mouth of the bay to the opposite end, then reflect and travel back to the mouth of the bay coincides with the tidal rhythm producing the world's highest tides.

The term is sometimes used in meteorology and physical oceanography to refer to anticyclonic motion, which is clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere (but with the sun's apparent motion when facing Equator in both hemispheres) (Pond and Pickard, 1983).
