3 unusual facts about Pick 'n Pay


Franklins

86 stores across New South Wales were sold to South African retailer Pick 'n Pay, which also bought the Franklins name. The "No Frills", "Fresh" and "Mini Fresh" brands survived. "Big Fresh" did not and nearly all were bought by Woolworths and Coles. Pick 'n Pay bought all but one of the 21 Fresco supermarkets and rebranded them as Franklins stores at the same time.

Pick 'n Pay Hypermarket

The Aspley store was established by South African retailer Pick 'n Pay in the 1980s but was purchased by Coles Group (then Coles Myer) in the 1990s.

Sunninghill, Gauteng

Primary shopping centres in Sunninghill include Chilli Lane (comprising better known retailers such as Woolworths and Pick 'n Pay and a Virgin Active gym); The Core (comprising offices and restaurant retailers); and Sunninghill Shopping Centre (comprising speciality restaurants and better known retailers Spar and Woolworths).
