Without food and without money, the situation was growing progressively unlivable and the peasants in Champaran revolted against conditions in indigo plant cultivation in 1914 (at Pipra) and in 1916 at (Turkaulia).

Pipara Simara (also Pipra Simra or Simara or Simra) (Nepali: पिपरा सिमरा or सिमरा) is a town and Village Development Committee in Bara District in the Narayani Zone of south-eastern Nepal.
In Bareilly District, they occupied several villages near the town of Baheri like Ekgrah, Pipra, Arsiabojh Paiga, Dhakia, Gunah, Dayyabojh, Suketia, Guleria, Pipelia, and Fardi Rayeen.
