Concrete from the stadium was ground and left on site for use in the Petersen Events Center and student housing which was built at the site.
It is generally accepted that the paper would have won a Pulitzer in 1964 but chose not to run the iconic Y.A. Tittle picture that one of its photographers took at Pitt Stadium.
