The boulevard is the most popular entrance to the Ponce historic district, and leads from the intersection of PR-1 and PR-2 into the center of the city.
Currently, the main form of transportation between these two cities is by two highways, PR-52 and PR-1.

Puerto Rico Highway 172 is a main highway that connects Caguas, Puerto Rico at PR-1 to downtown Cidra, Puerto Rico and continues its way to its end at Puerto Rico Road 156 in Comerio, Puerto Rico.
PR-18 is a freeway in Puerto Rico, which is also known as Expreso Las Américas. It runs from its north end in at its intersection with PR-22 (known as Expreso de Diego) in San Juan to its south end in Río Piedras where it intersects with PR-1.
It runs from PR-1 in southwest Río Piedras and heads south until it intersects with highway PR-2 in Ponce.
