The post office at Queets was established July 13, 1880, and finally discontinued July 31, 1934, with mail to Clearwater, approximately 12 miles away.

Dr. Naiman started researching the Queets River in Washington State in 1992 and has since been nicknamed "Dr. Queets" by the Seattle press from his continuing research on that river.
