Dornier Rs.I

This was a large aircraft (Riesenflugzeug in the German classification) constructed largely of high-strength steel for highly stressed parts, and Duralumin (aluminium alloy) for low stress parts.

Kawanishi K-7 Transport Seaplane

The aircraft was powered by a single Maybach Mb.IVa water-cooled inline-engine providing 305 hp (228 kW), an engine type usually used to power Zeppelins or R-planes (Riesenflugzeuge like the Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI), received as part of Germany's reparations to Japan after the end of the First World War.

Linke-Hofmann

In 1916 Linke-Hofmann was awarded a contract to design and build a four-engined R-Plane.

Luftstreitkräfte

:R - Riesenflugzeug - "Giant" aircraft - at least three, up to four or five engines - all serviceable in flight.

Mitsubishi 2MB2

To design an aircraft to meet this requirement, Mitsubishi hired the German designer Alexander Baumann, a professor at Stuttgart University, and former designer of Riesenflugzeug for Zeppelin-Staaken to supervise the design team, with Nobushiro Nakata as chief designer.

Siemens-Schuckert

Siemens-Schuckert designed a number of heavy bombers early in WWI, building a run of seven R-series bombers.

Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI

The Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI was a four-engined German biplane strategic bomber of World War I, and the only so-called Riesenflugzeug ("giant aircraft") design built in any quantity.

The first Zeppelin-Staaken R-planes were designed by Ferdinand von Zeppelin, aided by Robert Bosch GmbH (engineers), the V.G.O. I, (Versuchsbau Gotha-Ost), was built at Gothaer Waggonfabrik due to lack of facilities at the Zeppelin works, hence the V.G.O. Designator.
