2 unusual facts about RAF Abingdon


Linton Road

On 4 May 1941 during World War II, an Armstrong Whitworth Whitley bomber of the Royal Air Force, based at RAF Abingdon, crashed at the eastern end of Linton Road on the site of what is now Wolfson College.

RAF Falcons

A team of six men, nicknamed the Big Six, from No. 1 Parachute Training School was formed in 1961 at the school's base which at that time was RAF Abingdon.
