The effector is the latest version of the Saab Bofors Dynamics RBS 70 surface-to-air missile, called Bolide.
In these roles, the vehicles are generally equipped with the RBS 70 Surface-to-air missiles or a single Oerlikon 20 mm cannon plus FN MAG 7.62 mm General-purpose machine guns for self-defense.
The reason for this was supposedly that Palme had stopped the Iranians from acquiring the Swedish Air Defence Missile System RBS 70 and that the Swedish government had listed PKK as a terrorist organization.
The Swedish Army plans to develop a ground launched version of the IRIS-T to replace the RBS 70 missile system.
Luftvärnsrobotvagn 701 (abbreviated lvrbv 701) is a Swedish self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle armed with the locally produced short range RBS 70 surface-to-air missile system.
Until the late 1990s the RNoAF ground based air defence solution, also known as the Norwegian Solution (NORSOL), consisted of three different weapon systems; the 40mm Bofors L70 gun (controlled by the Oerlikon Contraves FCS2000 monopulse doppler tracking radar), the laser beam riding RBS 70 MANPADS system and the NASAMS.
Due to the increased size and weight, the missile cannot be shoulder fired like other MANPAD, but must be fired from bipod or tripod like French Mistral missile and Swedish RBS 70.
