On 27 October 2010 he made his official debut for Atlético, replacing Raúl García in a 5–0 win at Universidad de Las Palmas CF for the campaign's Copa del Rey round-of-32 first leg; two weeks later, as everything was already decided, he started in the second match, a 1–1 draw at the Vicente Calderón Stadium.
Unfortunately, he (22-4-1) lost his title on to undefeated Mexican Raul Garcia (23-0-1) via twelve-round split decision (scores 112-115, 115-112, 118-110) in La Paz, Mexico, despite scoring a knockdown in the final round.
Raúl Gómez-García, a.k.a. Raúl García-Gómez, was an illegal immigrant working at the "Cherry Cricket," a restaurant owned by the then Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper.
The song has been widely recorded, including notable versions by Inkhay, Los Incas, Los Heraldos, Jaime Guardia and Raúl García.
