It has also been suggested that the name Raeti may be connected with Reitia, a major goddess who was revered in northeast Italy and is attested in a number of inscriptions on votive tablets of the Veneti people.

Alternatively their language may have been Italic, akin to that of their close neighbours, the Veneti (whose language, considered part of the "West Italic" sub-branch of the Italic branch of Indo-European, was closely related to Latin).
