Ravenstein entered the First World War as a battalion adjutant officer and saw considerable action on the Western Front, participating in the battles of Verdun, the Somme, and the Champagne Offensive.
It was first played in 2006, with the host course being alternated between Limburg Golf & Country Club in Houthalen-Helchteren, Royal Waterloo in Lasne, Rinkven Golf Club in Anvers, and Ravenstein Royal GC in Tervuren.
