Imperial road, or Reichsstraße, a major European route in medieval times that was under the imperial or royal ban
In 1941 the section from Hof via Eger to Mitterteich was replaced by Reichsstraße 15 and the section of that from Hundsbach (border) to Mitterteich by the B 299.
The former Reichsstraße 6 ran from Görlitz via Hirschberg and Schweidnitz to Breslau and from there via Oelsas far as the old Polish border near Groß Wartenberg.
In 1932 the road was renamed Fernverkehrsstraße 87 (FVS 87), and in 1934 Reichsstraße 87 (R 87) by the Nazis, connecting with the former Fernverkehrsstraße 7 (which later became Reichsstraße 7) at Umpferstedt (between Jena and Weimar).
Scheßlitz lies right on Bundesstraße 22, the former Rottendorf–Weiden Imperial Road (Reichsstraße) which runs from Rottendorf near Würzburg to Cham in the Upper Palatinate and has a connection with the A 70, which runs from Bamberg to Bayreuth.
Deutsche Reichsbahn built a station on the Württemberg Black Forest line for the approximately 1,500 residents southeast of the settlement on Schwieberdinger Straße, the former route of national route (Reichsstraße) 10 (now federal highway 10).
