2011 Reno Air Races crash

On September 16, 2011, at the Reno Air Races, a North American P-51D Mustang, named The Galloping Ghost, and was flown by James K. "Jimmy" Leeward crashed into spectators, killing the pilot and 10 people on the ground, and injuring 69 others.


Kyosho

Based in Fallbrook, California USA, the full-scale Phantom was built by Aberle Custom Aircraft and sponsored by Kyosho during the 2007 Reno Air Races.

Reno Barons

Their name seems to be a play on Manfred von Richthofen (the World War I pilot colloquially known as The Red Baron), and a reference to the Reno Air Races in the nearby Reno Stead Airport.

Tsunami Racer

First flown August 17, 1986 by test pilot Steve Hinton, Tsunami was designed specifically to break the 3 km world speed record for propeller driven aircraft and to compete in the Unlimited class at the Reno Air Races.
