Giuseppe made his American Recital Debut on April 21, 2012 with the Harriman-Jewell Series at the Folly Theater in Kansas City, Missouri singing a program of Italian and German songs by Cilea, Pizzetti, Respighi, Tosti and Strauss.
Pilati's output is considerable given his few years of compositional maturity, but it includes a Concerto for Orchestra (1932), premiered by Dmitri Mitropoulos at the Venice Biennale in 1938, which shows modal influences of Respighi as well as a Mahlerian ländler in the finale.

A singer (mezzo-soprano) and composer herself, Elsa Respighi created ballets out of Respighi's Ancient Airs and Dances suites and completed his final opera Lucrezia in 1937.
All versions of the series were characterised by a caged bird automaton singing over the programme's opening and closing credits, accompanied in the original series by the first movement from Respighi's suite Gli Uccelli ('The Birds).

Other notable restorations of historical interest include: Respighi's 1908 orchestration of Claudio Monteverdi's Lamento di Arianna (from the lost opera Arianna, 1608) edited in 2012, and Di Vittorio's completion of Respighi's orchestration of the Tre Liriche (Three Art Songs, 1913) edited for its centennial anniversary in 2013.
His rediscovery of the concertos of Respighi (Bedford, 1991), Malipiero (London, 1994) and Casella (1995), was followed by the first modern performance in the United States of Ottorino Respighi’s Toccata for piano and orchestra, with the Johnson City Symphony under Lewis Dalvit; the concert was broadcast live by PBS and subsequently included in the station’s Great Performances series.
Conversely, certain forms of art, such as the works of Beethoven, Respighi, Dvorak, and Chopin, were condemned in Party papers as "bourgeois decadence".
