The composers Leo Brouwer, Dusan Bogdanovic, Angelo Gilardino, Mario Pagotto dedicated to him some of their compositions, and he made the premiere recordings of works by Giulio Regondi, Claudio Ambrosini, Ivan Fedele, Carlo Boccadoro, Frantz Casséus (in collaboration with Marc Ribot).
Starting in the late 1990s, jazz guitarist Marc Ribot recorded two albums mostly of Rodríguez' compositions or songs in his repertoire:Marc Ribot y los Cubanos Postizos (or Marc Ribot and the Prosthetic/Fake Cubans) and Muy Divertido!.

The first one, who designed it was Ribot in 1880, later on Freud took Ribot's idea up again and brought it in connection with aphasia.
