Richfield Tower was starkly featured in a few scenes of Michelangelo Antonioni's 1970 film Zabriskie Point, shot shortly before its demolition.
Anderson led ARCO's move from New York to Los Angeles in 1972, when it opened Atlantic Richfield Plaza on Flower street, which unfortunately and disastrously, from a preservation and cultural perspective, displaced (Richfield Tower Morgan, Walls & Clements, built 1928-1929, demolished 1968-1969.)

While many of the buildings throughout the west coast have been demolished such the Richfield Tower in Los Angeles, beautiful examples remain such as San Diego's Spreckels Theater and the Ventura County Courthouse.
