The Dominion Methodist/United Church`s roots go back to Methodist circuit riders visitations in Hull, Lower Canada from 1816, and a wooden structure built on Rideau Street in the Lower Town in 1827.
SCAW rallied at the University of Ottawa and marched to the intersection of Rideau and Sussex and occupied the intersection with 130 students for thirty minutes before leaving to join the city-wide rally.
The rink was torn down in the fall of 1895 to make way for the Canada Atlantic Railway, which opened a station at Rideau Street and the Canal and laid rail tracks alongside the eastern bank of the Canal.
It will include 3 subway stations; one between Lyon and Kent Streets, integrated with Place de Ville, the next station will be built between O'Connor Street and Metcalfe Street and one under Rideau Street with multiple entrances in the Rideau Centre.
The building of the Canada Atlantic Railway tracks along the Rideau Canal as far north as Rideau Street meant the demolition of the boat works in 1895.
