Later that night, two bank robbers (named Rocky and Mugsy) try to break into the safe, but fail when they use too much nitroglycerine and end up killing themselves and Sylvester.
Rocky and Mugsy can be seen as a silhouette in the apartment windows, as well as Spike the Bulldog and Chester the Terrier and Hippety Hopper.

Immediately after becoming a police detective (with the codename "Elegant Mess"), Bugs is captured by Rocky and his gang, who try to drown him.
The cartoon later appeared (combined with two other Rocky and Mugsy cartoons) in The Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie in 1981.
