3 unusual facts about Rough Guides

Robert Henson

Henson's current book, The Rough Guide to Climate Change (Rough Guides £9.99, pp320), was shortlisted for the Royal Society's £10,000 Science Book Prize.

Rough Guides

Initially part of Janet Street Porter's DEF II strand, alongside Rapido and Jovanotti's Gimme 5, the show outlasted the 'yoof-TV' strand and became established in BBC 2's early 1990s evening schedule.

Albums released in the series include The Rough Guide to... Bhangra, Tito Puente, Romanian Gypsies, Hungarian Gypsies and Ali Hassan Kuban.

The Rough Guide to Blues Revival

Part of the World Music Network Rough Guides series, the album contains two discs: an overview of the contemporary scene on Disc One, primarily featuring American artists, and a "bonus" Disc Two highlighting Malian Samba Touré (a reference to the commonalities between the American Blues and West African music).
