Catasauqua High School

The Catasauqua High School mascot is the Rough Rider and the athletic teams are colloquially referred to as the “Roughies.” The school colors are brown and white, with gold sometimes used as an accentuating third color.

Otto Gray and his Oklahoma Cowboys

Formed in Ripley, Oklahoma in the early 1920s, the band was first known as McGinty's Oklahoma Cowboy Band, for the leader, Billy McGinty, a well-known cowboy, former Rough Rider, and world champion rider with Buffalo Bill's show.

Roosevelt Room

Even before President Nixon's formal naming of the Roosevelt Room a tradition existed of Democratic administrations hanging Alfred Jonniaux's portrait of FDR over the mantel with Theodore Roosevelt's equestrian portrait by Tade Styka titled "Rough Rider" hung on the south wall.

Solon Borglum

Borglum received several major public commissions, including an equestrian monument of General John B. Gordon for the grounds of the Georgia state capitol in Atlanta (1907), one of Rough Rider Buckey O'Neill for the plaza in front of the courthouse in Prescott, Arizona (1907), and The Pioneer, which was erected in the Court of Honor at the Panama–Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco (1915).
