However between 1904 and 1922 all the houses on one side of the street were demolished and replaced by the Royal College of Science for Ireland, which was designed by Sir Aston Webb.
As a result of this recommendation, the museum was abolished to make way for the Royal College of Science for Ireland, which was wider in sight.
In 1926 the RCSI was absorbed into University College Dublin (UCD), where it became the UCD Science and Engineering faculties.
