In 1982 it was decided to close the Air Base, but it was not until 1992 that it was abandoned by the Royal Netherlands Air Force.

The Air Operations Control Station Nieuw-Milligen (AOCS NM) of the Royal Netherlands Air Force is located near Nieuw-Milligen (in the municipality of Apeldoorn).
Although the order by the ML-KNIL was cancelled, the Luchtvaartafdeling (Dutch Army Air Force before World War II) placed an order of 36 aircraft, which were all delivered in time to participate in the war against the Germans in May 1940.
322 multi-role F-16 Squadron, being the oldest operational squadron of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, was founded at RAF Woodvale on 12 June 1943 as the No. 322 Dutch Squadron Royal Air Force.
The production aircraft L-11 is preserved at the Royal Netherlands Air Force museum in Soesterberg.
