He is a recipient of the John Murray Thomson Award given by the President and the Awards Committee of the 2000 Royal Scottish Academy Annual Exhibition.

Calum Colvin RSA OBE (born Glasgow, 1961) is a Scottish artist whose work combines photography, painting, and installation, and often deals with issues of Scottish identity and culture and with the history of art.
From 1857 until the early 1890s George exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, the British Institution, and also at the Royal Hibernian Academy, Manchester City Art Gallery, the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts.
As much a businessman and office manager as an architect, Peddie held directorships with the Edinburgh Tramway Company, Scottish Equitable Life and the Scottish Investment Trust, but never sought membership of the Royal Institute of British Architects or the Royal Scottish Academy.

With the help of a government grant from Earl Spencer, Low set up the agricultural museum in Edinburgh and commissioned William Shiels of the Royal Scottish Academy to produce these beautiful paintings of all the significant breeds of economic significance in Great Britain at that time.
Some of his most important portraits are those of the Earl and Countess of Dufferin, Admiral Grenfell, Alderman Sir William McArthur, Dr. Lorimer, and John Faed, R.S.A..
He trained at the College of Dramatic Art, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow, where, inter alia, he played roles in Brendan Behan's The Hostage and The Zykovs by Maxim Gorky.
