In the early 1870s Voynikov was close to the right-wing Band of Virtues group who assisted him in obtaining Russian citizenship; thus, Voynikov could return to Bulgaria in 1874.
In December 2010, Suruj Rambachan, the Trinidad and Tobago Foreign Minister announced that the country had one month previous lifted visa requirements for holders of Russian passports.

Those without Russian passports may be forced to become Turkmens, and fear that they may never be able to return to Russia.
