Årstad Idrettslag

Årstad Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports team and former association football club based in Årstad, Bergen.

Årstad, Bergen

Årstad contains five elementary schools, Fridalen skole, Kronstad skole, Landås skole, Minde skole and Slettebakken skole, one lower secondary school, Gimle skole, one combined elementary and lower secondary school, Ny Krohnborg barne- og ungdomsskole, one special school, Alrekstad alternative skole, as well as two upper secondary schools, Årstad videregående skole and Langhaugen videregående skole.

However, Alrekstad lost its importance when King Eystein I moved his seat to Holmen, located within the city limits.

Bradley Moore Davis

Kronstad, Bergen

The western part of the road is part of Norwegian national road 582, which continues southwards to Minde as Inndalsveien.

The primary thoroughfare in the area is Ibsens gate (Fv 255), which runs from Haukelandsveien, just south of Haukeland University Hospital, to Danmarksplass, and has an annual average daily traffic of 10-11,000 vehicles.

In 2007, it was resold to the Christian television channel Visjon Norge, and it has since been used for a number of purposes, including revival meetings and theatre performances.

Nonneseter Abbey, Bergen

The abbey was located on a promontory on the north bank of the Lillestrømmen, a stream which once connected two bodies of water, Store Lungegårdsvannet and Lille Lungegårdsvannet, approximately in the area of the present Kaigaten.

Puddefjord Bridge

The bridge carries six lanes of motor vehicles and two cycle/footpaths across the Puddefjorden in central Bergen, between Møhlenpris in the city centre and Gyldenpris in Årstad borough.

Strandgaten, Bergen

During the 12th century, the area around the eastern part of Strandgaten changed from a rural area dominated by Munkeliv Abbey and St. John's Priory, to a centre for trade of goods.

Many important Bergen architects designed buildings in this part of Strandgaten, including Einar Oscar Schou, who had also designed Den Nationale Scene, Finn Berner (the building on the corner with Torgallmenningen, which was his design), Fredrik Arnesen and Arthur Darre Kaarbø, Sigurd Lunde, Ingolf Danielsen, Leif Grung, and Per Grieg.
