China's State Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is responsible for measuring the level of air pollution in China.
In Europe, the SEPA Direct Debit (SDD) and SEPA credit transfer payment system is available in each SEPA country for payments within the Euro currency Zone (regulation 260/2012).
The scheme is administered by the Environment Agency in England and Wales and by SEPA in Scotland and involves routine monitoring at 230 sites including 56 river systems in Scotland.

As SEPA has a responsibility for protecting Scotland's environment and human health, it also has responsibility for regulating the storage, and use of, radioactive substances and the accumulation and disposal of radioactive wastes in Scotland, including functions under the Radioactive Substances Act 1993.
