Oyama, Shizuoka

A small post town existed in this area since the Heian period, as Oyama is located at the base of the Ashigara Pass on the main route connecting the ancient provinces of Sagami with Kai and Suruga Provinces.


Gen'ō

Prince Morikuni was the shogun in Kamakura; and the daimyo of Sagami, Hōjō Takatoki, was shikken or chief minister of the shogunate.

Kai Doh Maru

The story begins at Mount Ashigara in Sagami Province in the Shōryakuera, where the young Kintoki is caught in a bloody family feud.

Kōza District, Kanagawa

Kōza District was one of the ancient subdivisions of Sagami Province, extending from Sagami Bay north to the border of Musashi Province between the Sagami River and the Sakai River.

Rōben

According to tradition, Rōben was born either in either Ōmi Province in present-day Shiga Prefecture or Sagami Province in present-day Kanagawa Prefecture.

Uesugi Akisada

Sōun, with Tamekage's help, would go on to conquer some of Sagami Province, and become one of the most major figures of the Sengoku period; Tamekage's son Uesugi Kenshin would likewise become a major warlord of the period, his rise with the Kantō as the center of his power base, as the result of Akisada's loss, a crucial element to his success.
