3 unusual facts about Saint Fiacre

Saint Fiacre

Seeking greater solitude, he left his native land and sought refuge in France, at Meaux.

He approached St Faro, the Bishop of Meaux, to whom he made known his desire to live a life of solitude in the forest.

The connection between Saint Fiacre and taxi drivers arose because the Hotel de Saint Fiacre in Paris, France, rented carriages, usually to travel to the hospice at Saint-Fiacre, Seine-et-Marne.

Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary

The garden also contains an English sundial from 1705, various terra cotta pieces, a plaque with a poem by Japanese pacifist and reformer Toyohiko Kagawa, and a statue of Saint Fiacre, patron saint of gardeners.

Yerres

Throughout the years the church had different patron saints: Saint Lupus, Saint Vincent (a tribute to the many vineyards the town formerly counted), Saint Fiacre and now Saint Honestus.
