While very young, at twenty-two, he wrote Corona de predicadores (Crown of preachers), a San Esteban sermon which was later printed (Madrid: Maria de Quinones, 1636).
San Esteban ("St. Stephen" in Spanish) is a city and commune in the Los Andes Province of central Chile's Valparaíso Region.

San Esteban is also the canonical seat of the Dominican Fraternity of Stmo Christ of the Good Death which makes its penitential procession in Salamanca at dawn on Good Friday, and the Royal and Pontifical Sacrament Confraternity of Mary, Mother of God of the Rosary and St. Pius V fraternity of glory, restarted recently after years of inactivity.
In that year an Almoravid army under Farax, governor of Calatrava, and Ali, governor of San Esteban, penetrated the Tajo valley and captured the then governor of Toledo, Gutierre Armíldez, at Alamín near Escalona, and killed him.
