"Sanctus" is a particular example of this, as it is based on the Christian liturgy of the same name, and dominated by the choral vocals of the Rosenberg Ensemble.
This early state can be seen in the testimonies of Eusebius of Caesarea, the Mystagogical Catecheses of Cyril of Jerusalem, and, above all, the Ritual used in the Church of Theodore of Mopsuestia.

The liturgical scholar Paul F. Bradshaw suggests that this anaphora reached its final form in the 4th century, adding the Sanctus, as well as the Epiclesis and the Institution narrative, to a more ancient material, which could more likely derive from West Syria rather than from Egypt.
The Church of England parish church of St Leonard dates from 1170: 12th century work includes the nave, pillars, tub font and sanctus bellcote: 13th century south aisle; 14th century windows; 15th century tower, stained glass and tiny chantry chapel: open bell-chamber and ring of six bells.
