It is part of a chain of islands in the west of the country that make up Sandys Parish, lying between the larger Ireland Island and Somerset Island, and is connected to both by bridges.
The Little Sound lies at the south of the Great Sound, and is separated from it by two peninsulas which extend into the sound from Sandys Parish in the west and Warwick Parish in the east.
Paula Cox, the only daughter born to Bermudians C. Eugene and Alinda F. Cox, spent her early years living in Sandys Parish.
Sandys Parish is one of the nine parishes of Bermuda.

Somerset Village is a small, unincorporated village in the northwest area of Bermuda, located in Sandys Parish.
