Her successors sold it in 1803 to Scrope Bernard (later Sir Scrope Bernard-Morland, a Baronet), who had been lord of the manor of Little Kimble since 1792, He held both manors until his death in 1830 and they were then sold to Robert Greenhill Russell (created a Baronet in 1831).

When Dennis Meadows, co-author of The Limits to Growth, gave a lecture in Honolulu, Morland took him surfing and was invited to join his new graduate study program at Dartmouth, where, after a year of course work, Morland joined the New England anti-nuclear Clamshell Alliance and became a full-time organizer.
He studied law at the Inner Temple, where his name was recorded as John Morland and a note says that he was commissioned King’s Attorney in Pennsylvania.
With the BEF expanding massively in size, Haking was one of the divisional commanders (he was fourth in order of seniority after Morland, Horne and Gough) whom Haig recommended to the Prime Minister (8 July 1915) as suitable for command of corps and Armies in due course, although only Horne and Gough attained the latter level of command.
