Beginning in the 1960s, Anglo-American Hegel scholarship has attempted to challenge the traditional interpretation of Hegel as offering a metaphysical system: this has also been the approach of Z.A. Pelczynski and Shlomo Avineri.
Avineri has had numerous visiting appointments including Yale University, Wesleyan University, Australian National University, Cornell University, University of California, The Queen's College, Oxford, Northwestern University, Cardozo School of Law, and Oxford and, most recently, the University of Toronto.
Professor Shlomo Avineri, a leading Israeli social scientist, received the Solomon Bublick prize for 2009 in recognition of his contribution to political science and the politics of the State of Israel.
