Herwig has conducted master classes, seminars and workshops at hundreds of universities and conservatories around the world including the Sibelius Academy, Finland; the Royal Irish Academy, Dublin; the University of Köln, Germany; Eastman School of Music, Rochester, N.Y.; and the University of Southern California.
Martin Wegelius (10 November 1846 – 22 March 1906) was a Finnish composer and musicologist, primarily remembered as the founder, in 1882, of the Helsinki Music Institute, now known as the Sibelius Academy.
Toimii (Finnish "It works") is an ensemble for new music founded in the spring of 1980 by Finnish composer Magnus Lindberg with several other young composers and instrumentalists connected with the Sibelius Academy.

Becoming a lecturer at the renowned Sibelius Academy, from 1989–1997, Korhonen taught at numerous conservatories throughout Finland as well as coached for more than twenty years at the Finnish National Opera, the Savonlina Opera Festival, the Zurich Opera and most recently at the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar.
He is the son of the renowned kantele builder Otto Koistinen and the brother of Ritva Koistinen, a kantele artist and the founder of classical kantele education at Sibelius Academy.
She began studies on her instrument, the kantele, at the age of seven and later earned a diploma in performance from the Georg Ots Conservatory in her native Tallinn, and a Master’s degree at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, where she studied under Ritva Koistinen, Finland’s premier kantele pedagogue.
A native of Reykjavík, Kjartan Ólafsson spent from 1976 to 1989 studying music, composition and natural sciences at the Music College of Kópavogur, Hamrahliðar College, Reykjavík College of Music, Utrecht Conservatory and Sibelius Academy.
Later, Ritva Koistinen became the first traditional playing lecturer in Finland at the Joensuu Music Institute, and in 1987, she founded the solo kantele department at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
The members of Kvalda have later moved to Helsinki to continue their musical studies: Kujanpää and Huhtala study in the jazz music department of the Sibelius Academy, Ikonen studies in the department of folk music and Pulli studies in the department of pop and jazz music of the Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia.
He has studied conducting in Russia at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, where his teacher was Leonid Korchmar, and in Finland at the Sibelius Academy with Leif Segerstam.
A professor at the Swedish Royal College of Music (1994-1995), Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (2005-2010) and the Sibelius Academy (1998-2008 ), Raekallio trained Antti Siirala and Gergely Boganyi at the latter.
Sandred was teaching composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm for 1998–2005 and he has been a guest lecturer at IRCAM, Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in Paris, at the Bartok Seminar in Szombathely in Hungary, at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, at McGill University in Montreal, at Harvard University, at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and other places.
He was professor of chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin 1996–2000, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki 1992–2007, the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg 1986–1996 and since 2006 at the Instituto International da Camara, Reina Sofia, Madrid.
While Henrik is away tending to the orchestra he conducts in Uppsala, Johan has a private meeting with Karin, informing her of a proposal from Ivan Chablov, head conductor in the St. Petersburg orchestra and an old friend of Johan, that Karin join him at the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
As a composer, Martinelli writes experimental music (with works commissioned by Sibelius Academy, and various festivals in Finland and Estonia, alone or together with Finnish composer Petri Kuljuntausta), incidental music (he wrote for documentaries, radio programs and theatre shows), and popular music (he is songwriter for the Italian singer Anna Maria Castelli).
The program of the opening concert included various performances by the students of Sibelius Academy, Sibelius's Tapiola and songs performed by the Helsinki Philharmonic (conductor John Storgårds) and soprano Soile Isokoski, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring performed by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (conductor Sakari Oramo), and Sibelius's Finlandia performed by a jointly by both orchestras and the choir of Sibelius Academy (conductor Jukka-Pekka Saraste).
In 2004 she was chosen for the sponsorship programme run jointly by the Sibelius Academy and TeliaSonera Finland; this continued until 2007.
Olga Shishkina is the first foreigner who graduated as a Master of Music in Finnish kantele from Sibelius Academy.
Hedi Viisma on sales is the first chromatic kantele player studying for a Doctorate of Music at Sibelius Academy.
In 1993, he was accepted into the Sibelius Academy's University-level program as a student of Dr. Raimo Sariola and Prof. Arto Noras.
He has studied at the Sibelius Academy, University of Southern California and the Tel Aviv University with Hagai Shaham.
After his first international releases, he has shared the stage with many well-known acts & DJ's world wide and his works have achieved the support of such names as the Chief Conductor Emeritus of Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and professor of conducting at the Sibelius Academy maestro Leif Segerstam, Annie Nightingale at BBC Radio 1, Finnish contemporary opera composer Olli Kortekangas & conductor/professor Markus Lehtinen.
