It originally ran from West Street/Berlin Road in Cromwell, which was part of Route 72 at the time (now Route 372), to the Silas Deane Highway (Route 99) in Wethersfield.
At the junction with Elm Street (Route 160), the road becomes a four-lane road known as the Silas Deane Highway.
Additionally, he travelled to Paris where he eventually forced himself into a meeting with American diplomat Silas Deane.
