Rimmer shares Tim Lovejoy's love of the UK Indie band Hard Fi and openly admitted that "Hard to Beat" was the song of choice when cooking scrambled eggs.

His television career began with Granada Breeze and he has also appeared regularly on programmes including This Morning, Granada Tonight, A Taste for Travel, Lunchtime Live and The Afternoon Show, Gloria’s Open House – Channel 5, Xchange for CBBC and a spot of co-presenting on UKTV's Great Food Live and BBC1's To Buy or Not to Buy.

Since 2006, Lovejoy co-presented the Sunday-morning TV programme Something for the Weekend on BBC Two, alongside chef Simon Rimmer and various female co-hosts, including with Louise Redknapp (previous co-hosts include Amanda Hamilton and Caroline Flack).
