Built in 1878 as a warehouse and cloth cutting works for Sir John Barran, 1st Baronet, this is a Grade II* listed building.


Bridgeman baronets

The Bridgeman Baronetcy, of Ridley in the County of Chester, was created on 12 November 1773 for Orlando Bridgeman, Member of Parliament for Horsham and younger son of the 1st Baronet, of the Great Lever creation.

For over 50 years Copley has been the partner of John Hugh Chadwyck-Healey (born 1922), grandson of Charles Chadwyck-Healey, 1st Baronet.

Leighton Parks

He was living with his daughter Alice Margareta Parks, wife of Sir John Nicholson Barran, 2nd Bt, in London at the time of his death.

Sir John Barran, 1st Baronet

Barran died in May 1905, aged 83, and was succeeded in the baronetcy by his grandson John, his eldest son John Barran having predeceased him.

By 1851 he had moved to Briggate and in 1856 he had a factory with 20-30 sewing machines.

Sir John Barran, 2nd Baronet

Barran married firstly Alice Margarita, daughter of Reverend Leighton Parks, in 1902.

Pollock was the fifth son of Mr George Pollock, fourth son of Sir Frederick Pollock (1st Baronet, of Hatton) (elder brother of Field Marshal Sir George Pollock, 1st Baronet, of The Khyber Pass).
