In 2002 Sir Derek Bibby, 2nd baronet, and great-great-grandson of the founder and past chairman and president of the firm, was aged 80 and terminally ill with leukemia.
He died on 11 March 1745, and was succeeded by his only son, Francis.

He was the second but eldest surviving son of Sir Francis Eyles, 1st Baronet, and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of London merchant Richard Ayley.
