Dmitar served in the Army of the King and had the title of Great Župan of Zarand and royally appointed commander "castellan" of the city of Vilagoš (modern-day Șiria) by Sigismund as early as 1402 until his death.
The music duo Siria is composed of singer Natalie Horler of Cascada fame, and DJ Manian, known both for his solo work as well as his work within Cascada.
In 1849, the village was part of the Kingdom of Hungary and it was a venue for the Revolutions of 1848 in the Habsburg areas, including the Surrender at Világos: on 13 August 1849 the Hungarian army led by Artúr Görgey surrendered to the Russian general Rüdiger on the field below Șiria Castle, which brought an end to the Hungarian Revolution of 1848.
The Siria name was once again used for a new single featuring a new vocalist, a cover of French singer Mylène Farmer's hit song "Désenchantée", released by Zooland Records in Germany on July 3, 2008.

With the immense success of the Cascada project worldwide, DJ Manian had announced that there were no planned Siria singles for the near future.
Basil Erdeli-Ardeleanu as Emanoil Gojdu during revolutions of 1848 - 1849 in Transylvania and Hungary, the Romanian-Hungarian brotherhood promoted, but soon after the capitulation of Șiria, Arad kossuthişti Hungarian revolutionaries, supported in publicly, Franz Joseph I, Emperor of the Habsburg Empire.
