The glacier can be approached via the important Balti town of Skardu.
The Hispar Valley (Urdu.وادی ہسپر)is the last Valley of Nagar Valley it is about 28km away from Nagar Khas it is the last valley of Biafo Glacier Skardu trek from Hispar and first From Skardu.
Ali Sher Khan is also credited with the construction of a dam on the Satpara Lake which irrigates Skardu.
Satpara Dam is a recently completed medium-size multi-purpose concrete-faced earth-filled dam located downstream of the existing Satpara Lake on the Satpara Stream approximately 4 km from the town of Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.
