In 1993 and 1994, following a redesign by Lucie Lacava, a Montreal based design consultant, the Society for News Design called Le Devoir the world's most beautiful newspaper.
Ten students were chosen from a pool of applicants to compete for internships at The San Jose Mercury News, The Orlando Sentinel, and The Arizona Republic.
That same year the paper won two Awards of Excellence from the Society for News Design for the paper's overall graphic layout.
