Andresen and Aardalen both grew up in the small town of Aurland, situated by the innermost arm of the Sognefjord in Norway.
With the construction of the Bergen Line, which was completed in 1909, it was decided that there would be built branch lines to two fjords, the Hardanger Line to Hardangerfjord and the Flåm Line to Sognefjord.
The fleet arrived at the Fjord of Songe by 18 July, but Helgoland had to wait until after midnight for a harbor pilot to guide her into the confined waters of the fjord.
The battle took place off the coast near the hamlet of Fimreite in the long and narrow Sognefjord in today's Sogndal municipality, Sogn og Fjordane county.
While Draug escaped to the United Kingdom on 9 April 1940, Garm was sunk by German bombers at the village of Bjordal in the Sognefjord 26 April 1940 and Troll was captured at anchor in Florø by the advancing German forces on 18 May 1940.
In September they were delivered at the harbour of Lærdalsøyri at the head of the Sognefjord, where they were loaded on board the Haabet, bound for Stettin.
Like the professionals` Tour de France, the route is changed every year but will typically include several UNESCO World Heritage Sites and places popular with tourists such as Geiranger, Nærøyfjorden, Sognefjell, Sognefjord and Aurland.
