Sir Roger also possessed in his own right the manors of Bletchington and Holton, Oxfordshire, Standon in Hertfordshire, Caythorpe in Lincolnshire, and Knaresborough and St. Briavels' Castles.
Walter Aston, 2nd Lord Aston of Forfar (6 April 1609 – 23 April 1678) was a son of Walter Aston, 1st Lord Aston of Forfar, and Gertrude Sadleir, daughter of Sir Thomas Sadleir of Standon, Hertfordshire.
Beyond this literary work, he caused two schools for boys to be opened, one at Standon Lordship, later represented by St. Edmund's College, Old Hall, and the other at Sedgley Park, in Staffordshire.
Standon Green End is most notable for being at the final landing point of Vincenzo Lunardi's historic first hot air balloon flight in 1784.
