In 1951, Willis and Stanley M. Rumbough, Jr. co-founded the "Citizens for Eisenhower" movement in an attempt to secure the election of Dwight D. Eisenhower.

In May 2008, President George W. Bush appointed Chesley to serve on the Honorary Delegation to accompany him to Jerusalem for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel.

Chesley won billions of dollars for his clients in other mass torts, representing clients suing Pan Am over the Lockerbie terrorist attack and clients suing Dow Corning in controversial breast implant litigation.
In 1951, he was co-founder (with Charles F. Willis) of the Citizens for Eisenhower movement, which helped develop grass roots support for the presidential campaign of Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Stanley M. Truhlsen (in full: Stanley Marshall Truhlsen, Sr., born November 13, 1920 in Herman, Nebraska) is an American ophthalmologist, university professor and philanthropist in Omaha who has served as president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, as a governor of the American College of Surgeons and led a number of distinguished Nebraska organizations.
Upon his leaving in March of that same year to assume the post of Administrator of the Federal Civil Defense Administration, Walter Williams and his (acting) special assistant, Stanley M. Rumbough, Jr. assumed the task of liaison between the White House, the cabinet departments and independent agencies.
