Burnside, Otago

It lay on State Highway 1 until the construction of the Dunedin Southern Motorway in the 1990s, but is now bypassed by traffic from central Dunedin.

Clinton, New Zealand

It is located on State Highway 1 approximately half way between Balclutha and Gore (the section of State Highway 1 between Clinton and Gore is known as "The Presidential Highway", after Bill Clinton and Al Gore), and the Main South Line railway passes through the town.

Dunedin North

These latter four roads form part of New Zealand's State Highway network, with Castle, Cumberland, and Great King Streets all being part of State Highway 1 (as well as being part of the city's one-way street system), and Anzac Avenue being part of State Highway 88 between Dunedin and Port Chalmers.

Greta River

State Highway 1 follows the river for part of its route between Cheviot and Waipara.

Hamilton Gardens

Hamilton Gardens is located between the bank of the Waikato River and State Highway 1.

Rangitikei is an area in New Zealand that follows the course of State Highway 1, from just south of Waiouru with the QEII Army Memorial Museum, through Taihape, Mangaweka, Hunterville, Marton and Bulls, and then winds down a minor road to the coast at Turakina & Scott’s Ferry.

Ruakura

The area lies to the east of urban Hamilton and to the west of State Highway 1B (a variant of State Highway 1 which avoids the urban area).

Vinegar Hill, New Zealand

Vinegar Hill is on the banks of the Rangitikei River within the Putai Ngahere Reserve, near the junction of State Highway 54 and State Highway 1, about 5 km north of Hunterville in the Manawatu-Wanganui region of New Zealand.
