Written by Lawrence, Alexandra Forbes and Eric Beall, and produced by Steve Barri, Alexandra Forbes, Eric Beall, and Tony Peluso, it is his most successful single, peaking at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay Chart, #19 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #10 on the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream.
He frequently collaborated with P.F. Sloan, and the partners were responsible for the success of The Grass Roots and contributed largely to the band's first album.
