With the new arrangement of the administrative districts the municipality Alfdorf came to the Rems-Murr-Kreis and therefore to Stuttgart Region.
2011 has seen the formation of two further Australian Football Clubs, the Ludwigsburg Taipans and the Haslach Hawks Both clubs are located in the metropolitan area of Stuttgart, Stuttgart Region.

The Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahn-Bundesamt) approved at the beginning of May 2007 the second "Sindelfingen" planning section and the Verband Region Stuttgart (which coordinates public transport in the Stuttgart Region) issued zoning approval for it.
It is also the location for the letter processing center for the Stuttgart region of the Deutsche Post.
