2 unusual facts about Super Bowl V

Super Bowl V

The Southeast Missouri State Indians Band was featured during the halftime show along with singer Anita Bryant.

The blackout was challenged in Miami-Dade District Court by attorney Ellis Rubin, and although the judge denied Rubin's request since he felt he did not have the power to overrule the NFL, he agreed with Rubin's argument that the blackout rule was unnecessary for the Super Bowl.

Bill Enis

From 1968 until his death, (of a heart attack, at the age of 39), he also called play-by-play of regional NFL and MLB games for NBC, and he worked the sidelines for the network's telecasts of Super Bowl V and Super Bowl VII.

Mel Renfro

In the 1970 NFC title game, Renfro had a key interception that led to the Cowboys' game-winning touchdown over the San Francisco 49ers that helped them get to Super Bowl V, where they lost to the Baltimore Colts.

Vince Lombardi Trophy

Unlike trophies such as the Stanley Cup and the Grey Cup, a new Vince Lombardi Trophy is made every year and the winning team maintains permanent possession of that trophy, with one notable exception being Super Bowl V's, won by the then-Baltimore Colts.
